Shades, Park, and Room update!

We had such a fun day today!! I love Nick’s 3 day weekends. We decided not to head out to Arizona this weekend since the weather is so crummy and we weren’t really ready (laundry was still piled up, the boat accessories weren’t installed, and we have a huge to-do list at home). It’s kind of nice to stay home and just hang out! Smile

We started off with a trip to Target to pick up some tylenol and yogurt for Lexi. She is cutting 4 or 6 teeth right now. Holy SMOKES!! Thought it was just two but looked a little closer and definitely saw 4 making their way in!!

She loved her new shades! (they didn’t last long… fell out of the stroller, got kicked and scraped up by Nick, then ran over by the stroller… LUCKILY they were only $1, so we’re stocking up on our next trip) haha

She’s too cute! Checking us out abover her shades. Cool kid! Winking smile

I finished painting the letters for Lexi’s room, so Nick and I decided to go for a walk and take Alexis to the park. She loves the swings!

I live for my baby girl. Her smile will always be the highlight of my day.

IMG_1707

Daddy took her on a few *new* toys at the park. He took her on the big slide. She didn’t really care.

IMG_1709

This was her face for the rest of the park trip!

IMG_1710

He tried the teeter totter, too. He didn’t really fit on it and kept bottoming out. I got a good laugh! Smile

IMG_1713

I just love these two. He is such a good daddy! Smile I love being able to take the backseat and be the “photographer” while they have fun daddy/ daughter time!

IMG_1717

She’s so cute in her headband, from Sweet Ella Rose, on Etsy! She was clearly happy we were home here.

IMG_1719

Here’s the little room update we’re in the middle of. Today, Nick and I picked up these wooden letters and I painted them. I love polka dots!

IMG_1727

We finally hung the pictures, too! Nick loves this one!

IMG_1728

We stapled ribbon to the back of the letters so we had something to hang them with.

IMG_1729

Lexi kept getting in the way, trying to eat the letters, so I decided to put her in “baby jail”. It was also dinner time, so we got a little creative in dinner time today. She loved it.

IMG_1731

Klepto decided to perch in the window while we were working.

IMG_1734

Have I ever mentioned that I love baskets?! They are AMAZING in keeping everything organized.

IMG_1735

Here’s the final result of the letters. We hung them above her door. I love it!

IMG_1743

Nick was working so hard!!

IMG_1744

I need to get on this. I have to fill these frames. I’m kind of failing here.

IMG_1745

…and here

IMG_1746

Here’s the pretty pics of my baby girl. (I really won’t be surprised if she’s completely full of herself because of us. We put so many pictures of her up in our room and now hers, too! )

IMG_1748

I love this frame. I found ultrasound pictures and thought they were perfect to add to here. Smile

IMG_1750

“you are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray” is on that picture. I like it- Nick doesn’t.

IMG_1751

Here’s the final result (well, we still have a couple shelves to add above her glider.)

Well, Lexi’s sleeping, the Lakers game is on, and a couple friends are over. Have a great Friday night!!

crafty!!

Yesterday was a really good day! Lexi's top tooth broke through her gum yesterday and she has the most miserable sounding "dadadadada" cry when her teething meds wear off. BUT- she still napped and slept regularly. As long as she has orajel, she's super happy, too!! Who does that?!! Last time around, she was somewhat of a nightmare, up every 30 minutes throughout the night. This time (maybe because we've done some sleept training now), she woke up once for 5 minutes, by the time we decided she probably needs more orajel, she was out again... til 7am!!! I seriously could not be more lucky. I absolutely LOVE being a mommy... especially to my sweet baby girl, Lexi!

Yesterday, I found my yarn and needle that I had bought while pregnant with lexi- with thoughts that I could actually make something like a blanket for her.. .haha- if I can find what I accomplished, I'll post a pic. Kinda funny! After laughing off my failed attempt to make a blanket, I got the bright idea of making a hat (cuz that's easier?!) I"m crazy. BUT- I think it actually turned out pretty darn good in the end! I'm sure it'll look a MILLION times better if she had longer hair though. hmm...

Today is Nick's "Friday" and it'll be an early day for him, so I'm pretty excited! I love being able to spend time with Nick at home. He works so hard and is gone SOOO much. -Some days, he doesn't even get to see Alexis (but he always gets up before he heads to work to give her a bottle and say hi). Nick and I wonder all the time how we got so lucky to have such a good baby. I mean- sure, she has her moments when it's rough, but for the most part, She is, for lack of a better word, perfect. It definitely makes me kind of scared to have another baby since she is so good. I can only imagine a second child being the polar opposite and giving me a real run for my money. Haha!

So I just looked down and realized that Lexi has found all the extra yarn I have and has managed to get her hand all caught up in it. LOL it is really soft, so I don't really blame her. I would want to play with it, too! :) Well, we're off to have some fun today! I think we'll go to the mall and Michaels today. I want to get her this! Then I have to find a 16x20 picture frame for her room and fabric to make her name banner. :) Maybe this weekend, we'll finish her room update...

Sick days... and a helpful kitty.

So, it finally got to me. The whole house, except for Laurie, has gotten this cold and I managed to escape it- til  yesterday. Now, I am feeling pretty miserable, and Lexi is full on teething. I think we'll stay inside til we can both be more pleasant again. Haha

Well, yesterday, I realized Lexi was full-on teething when i was changing her diaper and saw the little pearly whites trying to push their way in. They are thisclose to coming in- and Lexi is letting me know. Poor thing must REALLY be miserable! Yesterday, I totally messed up and I feel like such a terrible mommy. I had taken medicine that made me drowsy and I was getting Lexi down for her nap- giving her tylenol and orajel- and I definitely gave her the tylenol twice!!! I was freaking out! Gave my baby girl the dosage for a two year old, probably!! NEVER ever doing that again! I'll take my meds AFTER I put her down for her nap from now on. :(

Thank GOD she is totally fine though. As long as I keep on the 4 hour schedule of orajel and tylenol, she's a happy little monkey! :) I'm so happy she is so happy though cuz I could NOT deal with a grump while I'm sick!

These were taken a couple days ago (her changing pad covers were in the wash.)

Our little Klepto kitty decided she wanted to help...

Til she got a whiff of what Lex was packin' then she was OUT of there-- FAST! haha

Our little kitty is so desperate for any amount of attention she can get that she even jumped on the changing table with Lexi while I was changing her diaper. It was hilarious. Thank goodness the camera was close, so I got a couple pics before she got a whiff of the diapie and took off. I thought it was too funny NOT to share. :)

She is a full on crawler now.. and every so often, she does a push up. She can't REALLY be trying to stand up already, could she?! She just started crawling a WEEK ago!!

Such a happy monkey!

There is nothing I love more than her morning snuggles. :)

Holy cow- just going through pictures and saw this- what is up with that monster tongue!? Didn't get that from me!! I can barely stick my tongue out! lol

Yesterday, she decided to try out her teethers. This didn't last long- she's not a fan.

This seems upside down, but I laughed so hard. I grabbed the camera to do this post and she saw it and started fussing when I put it down. I turned it on and snapped a few quick shots and she was being such a ham!! She loves having her picture taken. Lucky me, cuz I love taking her pictures! (the random sock in this picture is one of Klepto's "presents" she brought it in this morning- no clue where she found it... we've been missing this sock for a while now!)

Well, I'm thinking about going to the lake this weekend. It'll be good to get away for the weekend, but it's still way too cold to do anything and it's supposed to be stormy, so we'll see. :)

Happy hump day!

My chubby monkey!

So this past weekend was kind of a bust! We played the entire time inside! Lexi was in a pretty good mood, but she's been skimping on her naps so I've been pretty exhausted by the time Nick gets home. I feel pretty bad just crashing or being a little grump when Nick gets home, so this week- I'm going to be happy. It's always a choice to be happy, so I'm going to forget how tired I am and just be happy!

Lexi is hanging out on my bed right now 1/2 way in her sleep sack still. I LOVE that she is mobile now. She starts off snuggling with me, then decides it's time to lay on her back and stare at the ceiling fan and then snuggle (try to...) with Klepto Kitty. We call her Klepto because she brings us the most RANDOM things... and leaves them burried in our bed. It's always a surprise what we get to put away when we go to bed at night.

I'm probably taking a million pictures a day so I can remember how chunky her little legs are. I never want to forget these adroable little details!! Lexi is such a chunky monkey! I'm not sure how tall she is now but she was 18.5 pounds a couple weeks ago when I took her into the dr for a rash I was unsure of. Now that she's crawling, everyone tells me that she'll slim right down. I never want to forget her chunky baby stage. Afterall, it's really the only time when everyone seems to agree that chunky is cute! haha

I love these chubby cheeks and 2-toothed grins! (and- as always her amazing BLUE eyes!)

She's a little monkey crawler!! :)

Yesterday, we went to Hollands first birthday party. It was so cold out, so the party was moved inside. We all had a pretty good time. It's fun hanging out with other babies and their parents!! It turned out that Holland's grammie is a baby/ child photographer, so I kept the camera in the car and stayed out of her way. I'm sure she got some GREAT shots, which Jennifer said she'd email us. Needless to say, when I get them, they'll be on here. :) She was dressed in her "party" dress and Maddie bow. super cute- as always!!

It got me so excited for Lexi's first birthday!! Hers will be so much different, but I'm so excited to see how the other mama's in the mom's group celebrate their LO's big FIRST birthday! :)

Well, I'm going to take off for now. It's time for Alexis to get some lovin's. Happy Monday!! Enjoy this two-day break from the storms!!

FOUND IT!!!

Hahaha... yesterday, i FINALLY found a food Lexi doesn't like! Well, let me clarify- a part of food she doesn't like. If i blend it up, she loves it. If i give her the bottom part, she loves it... but I give her the top- hilarious-ness begins.  :) If i can figure out how to get the video from my phone onto the computer, I'll post it on here! (working on it- bare with me!) I took two videos of it. I'm so mean though. I thought it was so funny that I gave her another piece just so i could catch it on video.

So.... the first food we found that Lexi doesn't like.... RASPBERRIES!! i gave her the actual fruit yesterday and the funny faces and gagging soon followed. I love Lexi so much. She doesn't know to spit it out yet, so she fought... and fought hard to make herself swallow it. She is sooooo cute! How did I get so lucky?! I love my baby girl!! She makes me want a soccer team of babies! (but don't worry- 2 is the limit... 3 TOPS- only if she gets a brother next time!)

Today, we're going to play inside. Lexi is just starting to real crawl, so I want to play with her on the soft carpet so she can "practice" and get better. I can't believe she'll be ONE in just 4 more months!! I'm planning parts of her birthday party and this is what I've got so far:

When: July 17, 2011 2-5pm
Where: my mom's house (more space!)
Theme: Olivia!!

There will be "bars" set up all around the house.
Bar 1- baby bar: this will be all of lexi's favorite snacks (puffs, yogurt chips, lil crunchies, mum mums)
Bar 2- dessert bar: cake balls, cookies, cake, and brownies
Bar 3- fruit and veggie bar
Bar 4- make your own chex mix/ cracker and cheese bar
Bar 5- wine and drink bar (adults!)

As far as decor, I'm going to have an olivia showcase (decorate the tv area to be like a movie theater... playing Olivia throughout the party). There will be a window Chandelier, that I saw here, a happy birthday banner (with pictures!) , and pom poms, too!! The colors are Red, Black, and White... with just a splash of light blue! :)

The center pieces at the tables will be my favorite. They'll be vases filled with red Tulips or daisies, and an Olivia character stuffed animal with balloons tied to the wrist! (1 HUGE red balloon with 4-5 b/w balloons around it).

That's pretty much as far as I've gotten so far. I know it'll be amazing and I can't wait to see it all come together. It's going to be a very LONG 4 month wait.

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend!! I'm going to give this video thing another try and then it'll be play time for the rest of the day! We're picking G-ma Laura up from the airport at 4 and hopefully get to hang out and show off the new crawling skills! :)

Remembering Maddie!

So today, we decided to get all dressed up and wear the Maddie bow, the purple flower bow we won in the Tiny Wings Auction, hosted by Polka Dot Junkie by Megan Green, in celebration of Maddie's short life. We hope she is having a blast up in Heaven playing with Jesus. I'm sure she'll be so proud of the strength of her mommy and daddy (http://www.kandjstaats.blogspot.com/ ). I wake up and blog stalk Kellie every day to make sure she is having a good day. I am happy when she has a happy day and I shed a tear right along with her when she's having a rough one.

Today, I hope she'll be happy knowing all the support around the WORLD for not just baby Madison Paige, but also for mommy and daddy Staats. I hope they are proud at the impact their daughters life had on everyone.

So, since the weather wasn't really cooperating, we couldn't get our pretty pink Maddie balloon and go to the park like we had planned to release it up to her. We will do it on the next sunny day and take pictures until we can't see it anymore. We moved our "park" time in doors and had a pretty good time in Lexi's room.

I am pretty sure Maddie told Lexi it was okay to crawl, because she did it for the FIRST time today!! I am so proud. I need to mark this day in the baby book- St. Patty's day!! :) I am going to have my hands full now, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I am so thankful for every single day I get to watch, hold, kiss, play with my perfect baby girl.

Camera was on the charger, so we get one cell phone picture for this posting. Sorry for the terrible quality.

So happy to wear her pretty Maddie bow!
