A few weeks in the making!

So these past few weeks, I've completely failed at taking pictures... and blogging! I've been so busy with end of summer things... spending lots of time with Aunt Rachyl before she headed back to school! :)

We had so much fun at the lake... TWO weekends in a row and we're heading back this weekend again!! Definitely making up for the times we couldn't go this summer! Since the first trip to the lake, Alexis has been sleeping soooo good!! She usually goes down around 9 and sleeps til 4 or 5am and goes back to sleep til 9 or 10ish am!! She LOVES her sleep! it's AMAZING! I love her so much! :)

She has grown soooo much lately and smiles at anyone and everyone... and even started "talking". I don't know what she's saying but I get tears laughing so hard at her attempts at conversation. Last week, we went to the mall with Rachyl and Nika. Nika had red lips that Lexi wouldn't stop "talking" about! haha.. she was so amazed by them! Too cute. I really wish I got it on video! I think I'll have to attempt the video thing again very soon. :)

Well, here are some sad excuses for pictures. Have a great week!!

missing!

I don't know where the camera went, so I'm going to combine this and next weeks entries. It will be all about her new fondness of sleeping at night and the lake!! :) amazing times...

oh, BIG thanks to the lactation consultant who recommended a bottle that Alexis actually takes!! Now I can resume pumping without feeling like I'm wasting milk!! :) The First Years Breastflow bottles are AMAZING! :D

hope everyone had a great week! I'll be better about posting next week!!

oh no!!! 5 weeks!

I completely forgot to post something for last week. Here's a quick little update on Alexis before I get her all packed up for our weekend get away to Lake Mead.

Last week, we took Alexis in the pool for the first time and she LOVES it. When I say she loves it, I don't think even I understood how much she does. She has been so cranky lately and fights her sleep (thanks to thrush, a diaper rash, and goopy eyes!!) and the ONLY thing that will make her a happy baby again is putting her in her little swim suits and putting her in the water.

Here are a few pictures from that. Will hopefully get some good pictures this weekend!! especially one of her in her little life jacket... it's just ridiculous!! It's so big on her!!

Have a great week!!
I love her smiles. I know I'm a little biased, but this is one cute baby!! :)

If she knew how to laugh, I'm pretty sure she'd have the biggest belly laugh to accompany her smiles when I put her above my head then make her splash the water.

intense staring contest with a plant. hmm.

Such a good listener.

MOM!! You're not looking at me anymore!!!

Okay... let's splash!!

Enjoy the heat. Stay safe. Stay cool.

one month old!!

AHH!!! My baby girl is a month old already! I can't believe it! Part of me feels like this past month just FLEW by while the other part of me feels like she has always been here. It's funny. People always tell you how fast it goes, but I didn't really see it until now. The pregnancy just DRAGGED at the end, but looking back- those 9 months flew by... and now this past month of being at home with my daughter (still so weird to say) happened in the blink of an eye.

Let's see, in this last week, we hung out with Rachyl before she and Gma Laura headed off to Maui for two weeks! We got the Overland Jeep Jogging stroller, which has been used every day so far! I love taking Alexis out for walks and being able to listen to music without fussing over headphones staying in my ears. It's AMAZING haha :)

I think I'm going to have to start packing up newborn clothes already, too! It's bittersweet since the clothes are so cute, but she is getting too tall for them! Definitely not too chubby for them yet, so the new 0-3 month clothes are just hanging on her... making her look bigger than she really is! She'll fill 'em out soon, I'm sure!

She also started to have some male pattern baldness set in! haha She looks like an old man right now with her receding hairline, so I try to cover it up with headbands... which is super cute! :)

On Saturday, Great Grandma and Grandpa Blount came over to play games! It was so fun and we had a good lil baby!! :) Such a fun family day!! Definitely looking forward to the next one!

Well, I kind of failed at taking pictures this week, so there aren't too many, but I did get a couple cute ones!

Firsts this week:
-went to a restaurant!! (and slept the whole time)
- let mommy and daddy eat dinner at the same time!
- slept for 5 hours straight almost every night!
- baby talk "ahh" and "oooh" sounds! so cute!
- one tear duct came unblocked
- staying awake for about 4 hours during the day!

It's been a GREAT week! :) Can't believe I have a 1-month old already!! :) LOVE her!

After eating from a bottle (only after she's being a piggy for too long and hurting mommy), she prefers the milk goatee over the mustache. not so sure it's a good look for a girl, but she enjoys it. :)

I slept the entire time when Grandpa Steve took mommy and me to lunch!

I love this outfit from Great Grandma Dale!

Love my cupcake onesie! :) so soft and comfy!

Have a great week, everyone!! Hopefully, I'll have lots of stories for next week!

week 3

So this week started off fun and sad. BBQ and pool party with Lexi's godparents and our family and friends! Its always fun to see everyone, but sad this time because Alexis' godmother, Danielle, left to work on the last Twilight movies. We miss her, but we plan to have many MANY skype dates to say hi throughout her time in Louisiana and Canada!

Sunday was another first for little Lexi! She went to her first Angels baseball game! We went with a bunch of friends and took Lexi in her Baby Bjorn for the first time. Look below for pictures! :)

The rest of the week was filled with Aunt Rachyl time... a couple trips to the mall and then a 3 day weekend with Nicholas HOME!! :) Sunday, Crystal and her babies came up to my mom's house, so we spent the day up there hanging out with them! Such a fun week!

Things she LOVES:
- Keona
- her swing
- her bouncy chair
- tummy time
- rocking in the glider

Things she HATES:
- powder formula (she gags when she tastes it then throws it ALL up every time!)
- being stuck in traffic
- trash trucks early in the morning

2nd Week home!! :)

This was such a fun week! Alexis had her 2 week doctor checkup on Monday! To my surprise, Alexis gained NO WEIGHT!! She is such a piggy of an eater but she managed to keep her weight at 7lbs 8oz. The doctor isn't so worried since she gained soooo much last week!

Things are changing already too!! Every day, her eyes get more and more blue and her hair seems to be getting lighter-- more BLONDE!! She has started cluster feeding then taking longer naps which has been amazing (except for the timing of her cluster feeding!!) We gotta somehow work on getting her to feed a lot right around dinner time so she'll sleep longer at night, instead of wanting to cluster feed at 2pm or 2am! That just makes for a grumpy daddy and a tired (emotional) mommy! Well, this week was otherwise pretty uneventful. I started tummy time on her activity mat and she LOVES it! (THANK YOU, CRYSTAL!!) She lasted about 15 minutes today... with 10 of it spent on her tummy propped up on her whale pillow. Tummy time is amazing! :)

Things she loves:
-eating (oink! oink!)
-dirty diapers (okay... this is gross but she never fusses when she dirties her diaper so we have to check and feel for it... ew!)
-BATHS!!!! (yay!! She doesn't scream anymore)
-keeping mommy awake!
-grandpa harris- being held in his arms and getting whisker kisses!
- Grandma Laurie telling the little piggy story with my toes! Each toe is different every time... always surprised! TOO cute.. and funny! :)
- car seat and rides

things she hates:
-daddy changing my diaper
-powder formula (tried it for the first time Tuesday.. YUCK!)
-Trash Trucks

Things I love:
- baby noises when she sleeps!
- her grunts! haha definitely a little piggy!
- her sleeping for 4 hours straight!
- taking her out for anything! :) she loves the car!
- her smell!! :)
- just about everything about her! LOVE her so much!

Things i hate:
- cluster feeding... it just starts to hurt after a while!
- spit up
- leaky boobs! (probably TMI, but she plays with my boob instead of latching sometimes and it turns into niagra falls and i have to change her AND me after! agh!)

Well, Here are a few more pictures of my amazing baby girl! <3

She's HERE!!!

Well, July 14th was life changing!! I Finally got to meet my little girl and I absolutely love her. She is perfect. :)

I wasn't really nervous about the whole induction process but I was so nervous about becoming responsible for this little human. I went in to Mission Hospital at 6:30 and things got started around 8am, with blood tests and hooking up of IV's and starting of fluids and pitocin! Around 9am, my dr came in and broke my water and WOAH!!! They don't give you any warning about the pain you experience once your water is broken while on pitocin! After about 10 minutes of shaking and crying in pain, the nurse came in and I asked how soon I could get the epidural... :) It took the anesthesiologist (sp?) about 10 minutes to get there then another 10 minutes to administer it and for it to kick in, then I was a happy camper... sleeping through the rest of the labor! haha I'm not kidding at all. I slept all the way til I had to push, then couldn't even open my eyes through that. I started pushing at about 3:10pm and at 3:52, my baby girl was plopped on my chest. :)

Okay, now it's time to be honest. Everyone has different reactions when they first see their baby. My initial reaction was "ew. sticky!" when she was put on my chest. haha I don't know if that's normal at all, but I couldn't help it. After she got cleaned up and I looked at Nick, the tears started flowing. Something amazing happened and I couldn't stop the tears. We created this little life and she was FINALLY here... all 7.2lbs and 19 inches of her. I held her for a couple hours before any visitors came in to meet little Lexi. Even though she cried for most of that, I was so happy to FINALLY have her in my arms. She was so perfect and beautiful. :)

It's been a week since we've been home now and it's definitely been an adjustment. I love her so much and I pretty much have her eating schedule down. :) There have been a couple days where she wants to eat every hour on the hour, but for the most part- she eats every 3-4 hours. She's such a good little baby. I love watching her sleep, eat, and open her eyes.

Things she loves:
-the boob!
-Aunt Rachyl (people say babies only smile with gas but she wakes up and smiles just hearing her auntie's voice... LOVE IT!)
-being bounced in your arms
-soft blankets
-her swing
-vibrating bouncer and bed

Things she hates:
-baths
-diaper changing
-clothes changing
-pacifiers when she's hungry

things I hate:
-her sharp finger nails scratching her face!!!

The dr says she's a little piggy! :) When we left the hospital last Friday, she was 6.11 lbs... by the time we went to the doctors on Monday, she already weighed 7.8 pounds and grew an INCH!!! She's such a little love bug and I love that I get to watch her grow and learn every day. It's amazing how much I can love this tiny little human. She's amazing. :)

Here are some pictures from the last week. :) I think this is going to be a weekly blog instead of daily blog as it's hard to find time to be spending on the computer (for now, at least)!!

feeling inspired!

So, I came across a blog that had 365 days of their little girl. I feel so inspired by it that I want to do it myself!! I'll post pictures and write fun little stories about my baby girl as we go through her first year. A lot of people have baby books, where they track everything in a little book. When I came across a blog version, I realized that it is much more my style. So until her arrival, I look forward to sharing her first year of life with family and friends on here!! :D
