Everybody’s workin’ for the weekend!

I don’t know why, but I have that song in my head. It’s not like I have heard that song recently or anything… weird!

After I finished making the hat for Alexis the other day, I decided I was going to make one for Laurie too. Since she always wears hats and recently lost her hair (from her treatments), I thought she would love one too. So, yesterday, Nick and I made a quick trip to Michaels and picked up some yarn. Then, I continued on to make this:

I think I’m getting better at this. I love doing it. It’s fun. I took the flower clip off of one of Lexi’s headbands today. Nick and I will have to go back to Michael’s today and make some more clips. I just LOVE this flower. I got it from the little boutique shop at CalElite, where we take a little Mommy and Me gymnastics class.

I’m soooo thankful I have a daughter. I love the girly things and LOVE to be creative and make things for her. I really hope my next baby will be a boy though, because I love them, too! Smile I am just super happy that I did get a daughter.

Today, I decided to make her “lonely” picture frame into a bow holder, too. This project was q quick one. I ran over to Michaels so I could pick up some ribbon, a hot glue gun (finally). a flower, and clips for Laurie’s hat.

To make the frame, I cut equal lengths of the purple and green ribbon and taped them to the back of the frame, so I could see how it would look when completed. While I was doing that, I plugged the hot glue gun in so it would be hot enough when I was ready to make the ribbon more permanent. I lifted each piece of ribbon so I could get under the taped part, and put a line of glue and pushed it down. The tape was PERFECT since it kept the glue from burning my fingers when it leaked through the sheer ribbon.

After about 5 minutes, it was set and ready to hang! I love it up on her wall and it perfectly fills the space by the door. Smile Quick and easy project!! –Success!

To finish the hat I made for Laurie, I picked out a silk flower from Michaels, then pulled the flower part from the stem and removed layers until it was the perfect size. I bought little hair clips and glued fabric around it so it wouldn’t hurt her head when she wore it for a long time. Then, I glued the flower into place on the clip. Simple- it was done.

Before naptime, Lexi and I played in her room. I love her reaction to all the changes. I’ll HAVE to get it on video so I can show you all. She talks to the pictures- and gets the BIGGEST smiles!! Smile My daughter is ADORABLE! I turned the heater on and I guess Lex was a little cold. She crawled over and planed herself right infront of it. haha Smart baby!

Shades, Park, and Room update!

We had such a fun day today!! I love Nick’s 3 day weekends. We decided not to head out to Arizona this weekend since the weather is so crummy and we weren’t really ready (laundry was still piled up, the boat accessories weren’t installed, and we have a huge to-do list at home). It’s kind of nice to stay home and just hang out! Smile

We started off with a trip to Target to pick up some tylenol and yogurt for Lexi. She is cutting 4 or 6 teeth right now. Holy SMOKES!! Thought it was just two but looked a little closer and definitely saw 4 making their way in!!

She loved her new shades! (they didn’t last long… fell out of the stroller, got kicked and scraped up by Nick, then ran over by the stroller… LUCKILY they were only $1, so we’re stocking up on our next trip) haha

She’s too cute! Checking us out abover her shades. Cool kid! Winking smile

I finished painting the letters for Lexi’s room, so Nick and I decided to go for a walk and take Alexis to the park. She loves the swings!

I live for my baby girl. Her smile will always be the highlight of my day.

IMG_1707

Daddy took her on a few *new* toys at the park. He took her on the big slide. She didn’t really care.

IMG_1709

This was her face for the rest of the park trip!

IMG_1710

He tried the teeter totter, too. He didn’t really fit on it and kept bottoming out. I got a good laugh! Smile

IMG_1713

I just love these two. He is such a good daddy! Smile I love being able to take the backseat and be the “photographer” while they have fun daddy/ daughter time!

IMG_1717

She’s so cute in her headband, from Sweet Ella Rose, on Etsy! She was clearly happy we were home here.

Here’s the little room update we’re in the middle of. Today, Nick and I picked up these wooden letters and I painted them. I love polka dots!

IMG_1727

We finally hung the pictures, too! Nick loves this one!

IMG_1728

We stapled ribbon to the back of the letters so we had something to hang them with.

IMG_1729

Lexi kept getting in the way, trying to eat the letters, so I decided to put her in “baby jail”. It was also dinner time, so we got a little creative in dinner time today. She loved it.

Klepto decided to perch in the window while we were working.

IMG_1734

Have I ever mentioned that I love baskets?! They are AMAZING in keeping everything organized.

IMG_1735

Here’s the final result of the letters. We hung them above her door. I love it!

Nick was working so hard!!

IMG_1744

I need to get on this. I have to fill these frames. I’m kind of failing here.

IMG_1745

…and here

IMG_1746

Here’s the pretty pics of my baby girl. (I really won’t be surprised if she’s completely full of herself because of us. We put so many pictures of her up in our room and now hers, too! )

IMG_1748

I love this frame. I found ultrasound pictures and thought they were perfect to add to here. Smile

IMG_1750

“you are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray” is on that picture. I like it- Nick doesn’t.

IMG_1751

Here’s the final result (well, we still have a couple shelves to add above her glider.)

Well, Lexi’s sleeping, the Lakers game is on, and a couple friends are over. Have a great Friday night!!

crafty!!

Yesterday was a really good day! Lexi's top tooth broke through her gum yesterday and she has the most miserable sounding "dadadadada" cry when her teething meds wear off. BUT- she still napped and slept regularly. As long as she has orajel, she's super happy, too!! Who does that?!! Last time around, she was somewhat of a nightmare, up every 30 minutes throughout the night. This time (maybe because we've done some sleept training now), she woke up once for 5 minutes, by the time we decided she probably needs more orajel, she was out again... til 7am!!! I seriously could not be more lucky. I absolutely LOVE being a mommy... especially to my sweet baby girl, Lexi!

Yesterday, I found my yarn and needle that I had bought while pregnant with lexi- with thoughts that I could actually make something like a blanket for her.. .haha- if I can find what I accomplished, I'll post a pic. Kinda funny! After laughing off my failed attempt to make a blanket, I got the bright idea of making a hat (cuz that's easier?!) I"m crazy. BUT- I think it actually turned out pretty darn good in the end! I'm sure it'll look a MILLION times better if she had longer hair though. hmm...

Today is Nick's "Friday" and it'll be an early day for him, so I'm pretty excited! I love being able to spend time with Nick at home. He works so hard and is gone SOOO much. -Some days, he doesn't even get to see Alexis (but he always gets up before he heads to work to give her a bottle and say hi). Nick and I wonder all the time how we got so lucky to have such a good baby. I mean- sure, she has her moments when it's rough, but for the most part, She is, for lack of a better word, perfect. It definitely makes me kind of scared to have another baby since she is so good. I can only imagine a second child being the polar opposite and giving me a real run for my money. Haha!

So I just looked down and realized that Lexi has found all the extra yarn I have and has managed to get her hand all caught up in it. LOL it is really soft, so I don't really blame her. I would want to play with it, too! :) Well, we're off to have some fun today! I think we'll go to the mall and Michaels today. I want to get her this! Then I have to find a 16x20 picture frame for her room and fabric to make her name banner. :) Maybe this weekend, we'll finish her room update...

Sick days... and a helpful kitty.

So, it finally got to me. The whole house, except for Laurie, has gotten this cold and I managed to escape it- til  yesterday. Now, I am feeling pretty miserable, and Lexi is full on teething. I think we'll stay inside til we can both be more pleasant again. Haha

Well, yesterday, I realized Lexi was full-on teething when i was changing her diaper and saw the little pearly whites trying to push their way in. They are thisclose to coming in- and Lexi is letting me know. Poor thing must REALLY be miserable! Yesterday, I totally messed up and I feel like such a terrible mommy. I had taken medicine that made me drowsy and I was getting Lexi down for her nap- giving her tylenol and orajel- and I definitely gave her the tylenol twice!!! I was freaking out! Gave my baby girl the dosage for a two year old, probably!! NEVER ever doing that again! I'll take my meds AFTER I put her down for her nap from now on. :(

Thank GOD she is totally fine though. As long as I keep on the 4 hour schedule of orajel and tylenol, she's a happy little monkey! :) I'm so happy she is so happy though cuz I could NOT deal with a grump while I'm sick!

These were taken a couple days ago (her changing pad covers were in the wash.)

Our little Klepto kitty decided she wanted to help...

Til she got a whiff of what Lex was packin' then she was OUT of there-- FAST! haha

Our little kitty is so desperate for any amount of attention she can get that she even jumped on the changing table with Lexi while I was changing her diaper. It was hilarious. Thank goodness the camera was close, so I got a couple pics before she got a whiff of the diapie and took off. I thought it was too funny NOT to share. :)

She is a full on crawler now.. and every so often, she does a push up. She can't REALLY be trying to stand up already, could she?! She just started crawling a WEEK ago!!

Such a happy monkey!

There is nothing I love more than her morning snuggles. :)

Holy cow- just going through pictures and saw this- what is up with that monster tongue!? Didn't get that from me!! I can barely stick my tongue out! lol

Yesterday, she decided to try out her teethers. This didn't last long- she's not a fan.

This seems upside down, but I laughed so hard. I grabbed the camera to do this post and she saw it and started fussing when I put it down. I turned it on and snapped a few quick shots and she was being such a ham!! She loves having her picture taken. Lucky me, cuz I love taking her pictures! (the random sock in this picture is one of Klepto's "presents" she brought it in this morning- no clue where she found it... we've been missing this sock for a while now!)

Well, I'm thinking about going to the lake this weekend. It'll be good to get away for the weekend, but it's still way too cold to do anything and it's supposed to be stormy, so we'll see. :)

Happy hump day!
